Hi all my fellow PB entusiasts  :-)

What PowerBuilder database interface (oledb, odbc, etc..) do you recommend to use to connect realiably to SQL Server  from a classic windows PowerBuilder application.

I'm running up to 50 instances of the same PB application exe (32 bit) simultaneously on the same windows server 2019 machine that has 56 cores and 512 gb memory.

Thanks for any advice :-)

Hi Steen,

Most customers used the SQL Server native client (SQLNCLI), but the issue is that Microsoft has deprecated this.  PowerBuilder 2019 R3 supports the Microsoft OLE DB Driver (MSOLEDBSQL), which is the recommended replacement by Microsoft.  Also, another advantage of R3 over R2 is that it is a long-term support (LTS) version.  Currently, there is a beta version of PowerBuilder 2019 R3 available.

Best regards,
Armeen

I have it all working perfect with 2019 R3 and the new SQL Server driver.
