Hi,

There was a PB17 installed on my computer (win10home). I tried to upgrade to PB19 R2. V17 uninstalled, V19R2 (Build 2353) installed successfully. Opening workspace OK, deploying OK, but simple Run or in Debug mode doesn't work, the program just closed after a few seconds without any message. After uninstall, a tried with V19, everything OK. Try to upgrade without uninstall, de same result as the first time.

It would be necessary the upgrade, because of a problem, which we could resolve with the new version, and without Debug mode will be hard to develop efficiently.

Is there something I made it wrong? How could I repair?

Zsolt

Hi, Chris,

Thanks for your answer, but unfortunately did not help me.

I do not need older versions of PB, now it is installed just V19. Nothing wrong with the basic V19, but upgrading to V19R2 causes the problem. There is no possibility to change anything during the upgrade, excepting the Build version, and Download Location.

I installed only the parts which were selected by the installer. Tried on other computers, the same result: Run and Debug works in V19 and do not in V19R2. Having saved the ProgramFiles/Appeon directory before and after upgrade, if it helps.

Hi Zsolt;

FWIW: I have upgraded all my test PC's to R2 and not had this issue.

BTW: I am running R2 build 2353.

Varga, do NOT do a partial install of PB2019R2. Do the full install, adn replace everything.

Of course you have a backup of all your code save before you start. :)

Good Luck,

Olan

Hi Zsolt;

   FWIW: I have PB 11.5, 12.1, 12.5, 12.6, 2017R3 and 2019R2 versions of PB installed on my W10 PC's with no issues. All major versions of PB can co-exist on the same PC / VM. It is only the minor versions of PB that cannot co-exist (officially, but I have a technique for that).

  The key things that I have found when running multiple versions (even over the past 30 years using PB) ....

1) Always install the major versions in a unique folder.

   For example: I use the folders ... Sybase115, Sybase120, Sybase125 ... Appeon2017, Appeon2019, etc

C:\Program Files (x86)\Appeon2017\...

C:\Program Files (x86)\Appeon2019\...

2) The next major thing to remember is that some PB runtime DLLs do not have numbering. So make sure that in your System Path, the higher PB version folders are first in the search PATH. The newer non-numbered DLLs are downward compatible but not vise versa.

HTH

Regards ... Chris
