did a new install of PB2017 on Win 10 PC. all went well trying to setup DB profiles and keep getting -

"No Database interfaces are installed. Please run Setup program to install the appropriate interface(s).

have re-ran install and made sure all DB interfaces are checked true.

i have PB 12.2 installed and it is not having any issues.

what am i missing?

New Install on a real PC.

i did not think PB2017 would work on a VM.

at least that is what i have read.

No problems with PB 2017 Rx on a VM. Especially now that the SYSAM licensing is gone. ;-)

Your missing DB Interfaces is a real puzzle though!

Do you have another PC to try installing your PB2017 on as a test?

i have installed the same download on a WIN 7 PC and it is running fine, trying to make the move to support WIN 10 PC's that are starting to roll out.

yup, looks just like it-

which is why i am so confused as to what is amiss.

as a test i also install PB 2017 on a Win 8 PC. it looks the same, and it displays in the Object window just fine and i can create profiles and connect just fine on the Win 8 PC. it is just on the Win 10 that PB 2017 appears to not acknowledge the list. note: i have uninstalled and installed 3 times on the Win 10.

Hi Vollie,

maybe it is a permission issue.

What if you run PB 2017 as administrator or lower down the UAC in Users settings?

Best,

nice thought, but did try that. even thou i was told and could see that my login is part of the Admin group. i did try the right click on setup.exe and selected run as and that did not change anything. still see the list in the registry, but the IDE still does not acknowledge the list and display. i know the drivers are there because the PB 12.2 version on the Win 10 shows the list and i can create profiles and connect to the databases.

Hi Vollie,

Did you run the PB2017 installation as "ADMIN"?

The list of database interfaces comes from the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Sybase\PowerBuilder\17.0\Vendors

It should look like this:

Well that is what i was expecting to see in the PB2017 IDE under Database/Objects.

but this is what i see-

and when i click on the Database Menu Icon to refresh this i get this-

Now as stated earlier in the original question, PB12.2 gives this list just fine in it's Object list.

so i ask again, what is it i am missing that PB2017 is not showing the list after install of the IDE???

Note: Both are on the same Windows 10 PC.

Hello,

when PB 2017 installation completes, DB profile is meant to show you the attached screenshot, i.e. the list of all DB interfaces.

That means PB interfaces are installed under C:\Program Files (x86)\Appeon\Shared\PowerBuilder. For examples, PBODB170.dll for ODBC, pbora170.dll for Oracle, etc.

Of course you will later need to install the actual DB client software in order to load the above DB interfaces and connect.

Best,

.m
