Hi Everyone,   I have thousands  scanned files (pdf,jpg,jpeg,....) mainly pdf - scanned without barcode

I want  to add barcode on each file auto (all files in specific directory)

I have excel file that have the no that can be used to generate barcode

so i want to do these steps

1-open the directory contains files

2-get the first file on it

3-get the first no for barcode in excel file and generate barcode for this no save barcode image

4-insert barcode image into original file save new file in other directory.

5-repeat until no file or barcode no is found

 

can i do this with powerbuilder  and how

Dear John Fauss

I can use barcode font in MS Word to generate barcode

 

Or I try to do as 

https://www.barcoderesource.com/powerbuilderqrcode.shtml

but instead of using(in the example shown) input="12345678"

i will use loop to read font required from excel file

 

now the problem is

how to copy the generated barcode and insert in scanned file(pdf-tif-....)and repeat for the next file in folder?

Code 39 style or 128 barcode style

I use Zint tool to generate barcode

The steps are as follow ( only one file each time)

I get the no (font) required for barcode 

Barcode image is generated using Zint tool , saved as image file

I edit this image to copy barvode

I open pdf file ( or other type of scanned file tif , jpg ......) and paste the barcode on it. Then save the new one

I repeate for the next file

 

If it is possible to make a loop to do this auto for each file in a  folder ?

Frankly, I don't know if will be possible to automate this process using PB and the tools you have listed. I suspect not, but I'm speculating. If the tools you are using support a Microsoft Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) interface and if there is documentation available on the OLE interface's objects, their methods and properties, then your chances of accomplishing this improve since PB can utilize OLE fairly effectively.

I asked you the questions I did primarily so that others in the Community could learn more details about your plans, the tools you want to use and the steps you'd like to follow - So hopefully, there is someone here with experience in accomplishing a similar task. However, that person is not me.

What software/tools/etc. are you using to generate a barcode image and insert that barcode image into an image file? What style of barcode?

If you had to accomplish this task manually on a small number of image files, how would you do it?
