Hi,

Our 2017 R3 version shows Appeon PowerBuilder Universal Edition in the About box.

Our 2019 R3 version shows Appeon PowerBuilder CloudPro Edition in the About box. This is unexpected but was unnoticed until today. Why is this so? However, PowerBar4 - PowerServer is available in the menu.

Today I installed 2021. This also shows Appeon PowerBuilder CloudPro Edition in the About box. However there is now NO PowerServer toolbar available.

Could someone explain to me this progression and how to enable PowerServer in 2021?

TIA

Larry

Hi Larry,

When you installed PowerServer 2021 did you install PowerBuilder 2021?  And did you install the PowerServer Toolkit?

Please note that older versions of PowerServer work with PowerBuilder 2019 R3, and the newer PowerServer 2021 only works with PowerBuilder 2021.

Best regards,
Armeen

Hi Armeen,

Yes, I did a complete install of PowerBuilder along with PowerServer.

FYI I'm not currently a PowerServer user but am keen to learn about the new features in 2021 and so I'll need to use PowerServer for at least the demos.

Thanks

Larry

So working for you now? We suggest after installing PowerBuilder/PowerServer 2021 that you go through the quick start tutorial so you know the basic config steps and also to verify your environment is OK: https://docs.appeon.com/ps2021/quick_start.html

Hi Larry;

1) The "Enterprise" version was renamed to "Cloud Pro" in PB2019Rx series.

2) PB2019R3 is the last version to support PS2020 (which is the last Web & Mobile version of PS)

3) PB2021 & PS2021 as now based on "Cloud" App technology. There is no longer a PS toolbar in the IDE in PB2021. However, there are PS icons in the new PS2021 "Project" within the PB2021 IDE.

HTH

Hi Larry,

PowerServer 2021 is a deployment technology completely different from previous versions of PowerServer, it's a different product! Built from the ground up.

So, to create a PowerServer 2021 deployment you go to New/Project/PowerServer. This should open the PowerServer project painter, which is the way to configure a PowerServer 2021 project.

Regards,
Francisco
