Hi, we're looking for the way to connect PowerBuilder2021+PowerServer2021 to IBM DB2/400 6.1 Version database.

We successfully installed Informix 2.2.0.100 as database driver(from nuget.org) and filled the Database Configuration form. However, when we finally click on the Test connection... button, the cursor icon keeps its hourglass form indicating they are working on something and the message for the test connection result never shows up.

Is there any solution we can try to solve this problem or could you explain why the test connection doesn't work?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone for your help! We tried the connection test again with more recent version of DB2 in the test environment and it worked. But since the actual production environment uses a much older version, guess we'll have to consider other options as well...

Glad it worked Mason, but ... Just one doubt: is DB2 the same as Informix in your case?

PowerServer 2021 does not support IBM DB2.  I'm sorry... you will need to stick with client/server, but you may want to try out the new PowerClient feature.

IBM DB2 and Informix are two different databases, and since PowerServer didn't work out of the box so I assumed OP is using DB2.

hmm, I guess you're right. Strange he tries to connect to DB2 using an informix driver then.

try installing a normal DB2 / informix client. I think the problem might be the "nuget" driver. Make sure it's a client with a version that complies with the Appeon supported drivers.

Informix native driver - Informix 7.x/8.x/9.x/10.x/11.x

from: https://docs.appeon.com/2017/server_configuration_guide_for_net/supported_database_drivers.html which is the 2017 information, maybe 2019 supports higher versions, but definitely, there's no mentioning of nuget v. 2.2.x

PowerServer 2020 and older versions supported DB2. In 2022 version we dropped it. 2021 version uses NuGet packages. Older versions did not.

Hi Mason;

  This typically means that the IDE can not reach the DB server.

  Can you use another DB Tool that connects the same way to the DBMS to test if this works from the PB IDE machine?
