Hi,

I'm trying to debug my application on powerserver pb 2017 R3. I'm now getting an error saying my debug file is to big.

I've read:

https://support.appeon.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/56/7/how-to-resolve-the-issue-that-when-a-js-larger-than-500kb-is-loaded-into-the-appeon-debugger-the-appeon-debugger-fails-in-work

Where - among other things - is suggested to compile with Debug J/S only.

Is this even possible on pb2017 R3? I only see the option which is "Debug PS/JS", which is not "J/S-only"?

Cheers,

MiguelL.

Hi Chris,

Thank you very much for the quick fix in December.

Nevertheless, it does work on a powerserver 64 bit, so I think there still is some bug there.

Anyway, I can test my ActiveX 32 bit stuff on my normal pc without debugging and then all the rest on a VM that I have with powerserver 64 bit.

Thanks again,

kind regards,

Miguel Leeuwe

Hi Miguel;

I spoke with Engineering last night and it seems that this option was dropped when the PB/JS feature selection was moved to a different part of the PowerServer Toolkit's Application Profile Configuration dialogue as a Checkbox vs a DDLB.

Engineering also said that they will restore the Debug JS option in PowerServer 2018 coming out next month. On behalf of Appeon, I would like to apologize for this feature oversight and inconvenience. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

HTH

Regards ... Chris

It's not resolved but prefer to continue on the appeon bugs site. It's a know bug and "no", you cannot set the "only JS" option for Debug in pb2017 r3.

Comment
Hi Miguel;

Correct .. the "only JS" option was removed in the latest PS2017 release. So now it's "all or nothing".

I will check with Engineering though and see if this feature might return in PS2018. I'll post back shortly on this aspect once I know one way or the other.

Thank you Chris,

I suppose the "suggested solution" to run it on Windows XP (max SPII), won't work either, as PB2107 requires minimum Windows 7 / Vista?

By the way:

The error message states that my js file can only be 500KB and it's like half of that ..

---------------------------
Debugger
---------------------------
Appeon Debugger cannot correctly load the JS file since it is over 500KB in size. If you want to continue the debugging, all breakpoints in this file will be skipped. Appeon recommends to stop the debugger, and you can try to deploy the application in "Debug JS" mode to reduce the JS file size and launch the debugger again.

OK

This is the file size:

Volume Serial Number is 407B-5D90

Directory of C:\inetpub\wwwroot\client

Total Files Listed:

Could it have something to do with having installed Powerserver in 32 bit mode?

I've reported this as a bug so I'm closing this question

Okay, I've re-installed appeon completely, same problem.

Then I copied my application to a VM-ware virtual windows 2012R2 and ran the application on that one.

Debug works!!

The differences:

- VM is windows 2012 and local PC is windows 10

- VM has powerserver 64 bit installed and local PC has the 32 bit version (by editing the product.ini file when installing it).

So my best guess is that it has to be some kind of bug to do with either of the 2.
