Hi,

I setup a database profile thru PowerBuilder IDE (2017 R3.) Wnen I check the "Encrypt All Results" option under Security tab (as below screen) and test the connectivity, it throws the error mentioned in second screenshot. Can you help in sorting out the issue? If I uncheck this option and test, the connection is successful.

The complete connection string generated is as:

SQLCA.DBParm = "Release='15',CommitOnDisconnect='No',Sec_Confidential=1"

--Thanks.

Greetings, Suhas -

Have you met all of the requirements for using OpenClient security services, as outlined in the Appeon PB publication "Connecting To Your Database" section 8.6.2? Here is a link to that section in the online documentation:

https://docs.appeon.com/pb2019r2/connecting_to_your_database/ch08s06.html#Requirements_for_using_Open_Client_security_services

Regards, John

You set the dbparm "Release" to 15, but maybe you'd have to set it to the exact version, like for example 15.7 ?

I think this feature started with 15.7. Maybe if your release is earlier, it just won't work.

Chris,

Yes, the encryption feature for Sybase ASE is installed on the server.

Hi Suhas;

   The ASE encryption feature is not provided within the base ASE version. Instead, it is an extra purchased option. Sounds like the issue might be related to the fact that this feature is not yet installed.

You also asked about this back in June (link here).

Have you contacted SAP about this directly yet?
