Hi,

We are trying to make PowerBuilder to work with our new proxy gateway. We reproduced the configuration from our previous proxy (with which PB was working correctly) ; PowerBuilder seems to try to reach api.appeon.com and api2.appeon.com through, we can see the accesses from our new proxy and no traffic is blocked. However, PowerBuilder doesn’t seem to be able to reach the Appeon servers, or to make the license verification.

This new proxy is a cloud one, hosted on AWS infrastructure, in Frankfurt. Could it be that Appeon servers filter the traffic coming from the AWS IP addresses ?

Thanks in advance for your response,

Kind regards,

Bertrand

Hi Tom,

In answer to your questions:

1) I am afraid that I actually do not know. I do know that a VPN is used. I will look further into this.

2) I can access www.appeon.com

3) I can ping api.appeon.com :

C:\Users\garrishr>ping api.appeon.com

Pinging api.appeon.com [192.237.225.82] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.237.225.82: bytes=32 time=202ms TTL=40
Reply from 192.237.225.82: bytes=32 time=130ms TTL=40
Reply from 192.237.225.82: bytes=32 time=153ms TTL=40
Reply from 192.237.225.82: bytes=32 time=130ms TTL=40

4) Not needed.

5) A little out of my league! I will get back on this

Many thanks in advance,

Robin and Bertrand

Hi Bertrand,

What is the error you see? Please do some checking as listed below which may help address the issue:

1. If your proxy requires authentication, then it won't work for PowerBuilder. You will need to consider using an offline license.
2. Check in your browser and see if you can access www.appeon.com.
3. Check if you can successfully ping api.appeon.com. It should resolve to 192.237.225.82
4. If it doesn't resolve to 192.237.225.82, please try add 192.237.225.82 api.appeon.com in the host file (C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts)
5.If you have Fiddler or other traffic analysis tool, please check the status and response of the request to api.appeon.com.

BTW, If you want to use the offline mode, you need to:
1. Unassign your current license.
2. Assign it to your account again as an offline license.
3. Activate your IDE with the offline license.
You can refer to the following links for more details:
